While stating that emergency sheltering and temporary housing can increase Tehran resiliency after occurrence of disasters, TDMMO president said that nine large scale parks in Tehran are going to be prepared for Temporary Housing.
In line with closing ceremony of Natural Hazard Festival and Temporary Housing National Competition, Dr. Karami Mohammadi said that prevention and prediction of risks are of great importance in disaster management.
At present, considering growing urbanization, control of disasters is very difficult especially in Tehran with taking into account a severe disaster such as an earthquake will require assistance of active teams.
He added that earthquake risk has been predicted for Tehran and obligatory wall posts in building construction that applied to regulations by Tehran Municipality is one of the important measures in this regard.
Dr. Karami Mohammadi continued that flood and earthquake Early Warning Systems are influential in preparedness and emergency response phases of disaster management and can affect increasing or decreasing damages and losses of disasters and temporary housing.
He reiterated that some of the countries such as Haiti that had earthquake experience before were not able to bounce back to natural situation. He also mentioned that the goal of resiliency is increase of safety and enforcement and in sustainable development, the development plans should increase levels of resiliency.
TDMMO President also stated that 3500 locations have been selected as temporary housing in Tehran and he added that emergency sheltering and temporary housing are two close subjects that can boost resiliency following occurrence of disasters since affected people need basic facilities soon after disasters in order to tolerate spiritual and psychological effects of that.
