The president of Tehran Disaster Mitigation and Management Organization (TDMMO), Dr. Reza Karami Mohammadi was awarded the top prize of the 4th Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award for two projects, entitled Earthquake Early Warning System and Emergency Roads Network focusing on resiliency, livability and sustainable urban development.

The president of Tehran Disaster Mitigation and Management Organization (TDMMO), Dr. Reza Karami Mohammadi was awarded the top prize of the 4th Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award for two projects, entitled Earthquake Early Warning System and Emergency Roads Network focusing on resiliency, livability and sustainable urban development.

According to Public Relations Office of TDMMO, the closing ceremony of the 4th Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award at the Milad Tower ended with appreciation for the best foreign and domestic urban projects and experiences submitted to this event. The results of the jury evaluation of this international award were announced in seven different topics, among them under resiliency, livability and sustainable urban development, TDMMO won the top prize.

The Earthquake Early Warning System and Emergency Roads Network are two awarded projects that increased urban resiliency.



Resiliency and making cities smart are two important elements for evaluating developing cities

At the Meeting on "Sustainable and Comprehensive Resilience Cities for All" which was held before the start of the 4th Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award, Dr. Reza Karami Mohammadi, while stating that resiliency and making cities smart are two essential issues for developing cities, said that the issue of resiliency causes developing countries not to backtrack and help them to move in the right direction.

Referring the launch of Earthquake Early Warning System in Tehran, TDMMO President explained that this system can get wave movements from distant points to Tehran a few seconds earlier before occurrence of an earthquake and notify it to the relevant devices.

He added that Rain Gauge Sensors has been procured and installed in Tehran in order to warn flood occurrence. These sensors can alert quickly prior to a flood. Regarding Earthquake Damage Assessment System he also mentioned that this system can accelerate the process of urban rescue and relief through demonstration of vulnerability level of different parts of Tehran.

Dr. Karami emphasized that we are willing to share our experiences in urban resiliency with our neighboring countries and our friends in other mega cities all around the world.

Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award for urban management is a comprehensive, scientific, and non-profit initiative which concentrates on introducing and supporting the top international urban management projects as well as exchanging the experiences of the urban management.
