In a meeting held on Jan 11, 2022 in TDMMO with presence of TDMMO President and JICA delegation, a Record of Discussion has been signed for the 5th joint project entitled “Capacity Building for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan in Tehran” with the aim to promote disaster resilience in I.R. IRAN.

The Conference will provide an opportunity to come together to tackle the shared challenge of accelerating our disaster resilience efforts.

Malaysia will host the 2020 Asia Pacific Science and Technology Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction on 16-17 March 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction's (UNDRR) Asia Pacific Science Technology and Academia Advisory Group (APSTAAG). APSTAAG's members play a crucial role in strengthening regional networking and providing advice and insight to boost national science and technology capacities.

Did you know that women, girls, men and boys are often affected differently by disasters? While natural hazards make no distinction as to who they strike, underlying “man-made” vulnerabilities – such as gender inequality caused by socioeconomic conditions, social norms, cultural beliefs and traditional practices – can leave some groups much worse off than others. Disasters harm all, but they often disproportionally affect women and girls because of their lower access to political, economic and social resources as well as social and cultural gender-specific expectations and norms.
